SIXTH GRADE VISITORS

November 13, 2012

I had a lovely surprise today: three sixth graders visited me after school. All three were avid readers during their CPS years, and I have truly missed them and our spirited conversations about books since they “graduated” to the middle school. It was wonderful to talk about some fun library memories and discuss books new and old. Each girl left the library with a bag full of books to read, which warmed my heart. Here they are, shortly after leaving the library, diving into their new treasures:

The good news is, I’ll get another visit when they return all those books.

Miss Haines’s class is awesome!

Check out these students in Miss Haines’s fourth grade class. These are the moments that make a librarian smile:  everyone is excited about the book they checked out and is quietly reading while they wait to be picked up by their teacher.  Nice job, kids!

Labor Day Fun

September 7, 2009

What did you do on your Labor Day weekend?  Most people try to grab a little more summer fun:  that’s exactly what I did.  Here I am at the beach in Friendship, Maine, reading with my husband and my daughter:

Tomorrow it’s back to school, and library classes will be starting.  It’s sad to see summer end, but I’m sure it will be a great year at Crescent Park School!  I’m looking forward to it.
